If you had to sing a song to calm a wild animal and save yourself what song would you sing?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Well, perhaps the best way to soothe a savage beast on the verge of an attack is to avoid eye contact, make no sudden movements, show deference, and slowly back away.

That said, I suppose there are some bears, lions, wombats, gang affiliated koala bears, and porcupines with known mob ties with which the above stated tactics would not work.

For these critters it is best to stick to the standards. "Come Fly With Me", "Summer Wind", or "Girl From Ipa Nima". It is also important to incorporate choreography, dramatic pauses and to pay attention to wardrobe detail. Many a woodsman has come within grasp of saving themselves from a grizzly bear by belting out a rousing rendition of "My Way" only to be eaten at the last minute for not wearing patent leather shoes with his tuxedo or failing to incorporate a pocket square in the breast pocket of his jacket.

Also, if you venture into the woods or jungle, it is always wise to drag along 1 or 2 musicians for accompaniment. Singing acappella in the outdoors can be rough.

So, be smart, be alert, and drink some warm water with lemon before venturing out towards the bosom of mother nature; you'll be glad you did.

Source: The isolated corners of my mind following the consumption of 5 day old egg nog of questionable origin and an even more questionable expiration date.

Both of my choices would be from Disney's Lion King. It as the first thing that came to mind as I read the question. and because I was blessed to have a little boy who LOVED it, I know most of the lyrics!

"In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight

In the jungle, the quiet jungle,The lion sleeps tonight."

Or perhaps something a little more lively....

"Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase

Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze

It means no worries for the rest of your days

It's our problem-free philosophy

Hakuna Matata!"

Sorry, but yes, this song will be in your head for the next few hours!

I am a fan of impovising, so you may hear something like this . . .

"Please don't eat me, Mr Bear"
"I'm a human, not a pear"

"I taste terrible with honey."
"Please eat fish and bypass me"

"Nearly to my car"
"I don't have far"

"Just opening my door"
"I'll trouble you no more"

"Don't painic from the engine vroom"
"Now watch as I zoom"

"Thank you, thank you very much. Good bear!"

lover's concerto

How gentle is the rain
That falls softly on the meadow
Birds high up in the trees
Serenade the clouds with their melody
Oh! See there beyond the hills
The bright colors of the rainbow
Some magic from above
Made this day for us
Just to fall in love
You hold me in your arms
And say once again you love me
And if your love is true
Everything will be just as wonderful
Now, I belong to you
From this day until forever
Just love me tenderly
And I'll give to you
Every part of me
Oh! Don't ever make me cry
Through long lonely nights without love
Be always true to me
Keep this day in your heart eternally
You hold me in your arms
And say once again you love me
And if your love is true
Everything will be just as wonderful

I'm sad to say my voice is not meant for singing. I'd have to try it very, very softly to be able to lull the animal and avoid scaring everything in nature.

I might try this one first-- it seems simple enough to remember in spite of the nerve-wracking situation:

Then I might also try this one:

If I were faced with a bear, perhaps it would like this song:
