If you had to pick a franchise goalie today, which goalie would you select?
Considering the current stock of goalies and their current ages.
Meaning Martin Brodeur may not be a wise choice.

Detroit loves their goaltenders, they are very loyal to them when they're a good fit with the team and get the job done. They have 26 year old Jimmy Howard between the pipes and with his past record ( 5 seasons, all with the Wings, played 76 games with 41 wins 20 loses) may not seem that impressive, Last season he has seen the most ice time with his record of 63 games 37 wins 15 loses with 3 shut-outs. He will be taking over for Chris Osgood as the main goaltender. Osgood has 14 seasons with the Wings, 18 in the NHL (2 seasons w/ NY Islanders, 2 seasons w/ St Louis between 2001-2004). If Howard can keep the puck out of the net he's going to be around for a long time. Currently he is 3-0 with 1 shut-out , we'll see if this kid has what it takes over the 7 months and get to the playoffs, which last season he had played in 12 post-season games with 5 wins 7 loses and 1 SO. ( just about everyone was injured).
So, Jimmy Howard from The Detroit Wings is 1st choice and Denis Lemieux from The Johnstown Chiefs would be my 2nd choice.
