If you get married in Dec, can you fill tax in Feb? or do you have to wait six month?

Caution: If A wants to marry B, but B is uncertain, A may hold out the tax benefits of filing a joint return as a carrot to get married before the end of the year. While it is true that filing jointly is usually better than filing separately, the tax benefits are not a good enough reason to marry someone.

M$If you mean: You got married in December and want to file a joint tax return in February, you can. Discuss with your accountant or other tax professional what would be the most beneficial way for the two of you to file.
I got married last year in Oct. and will be filing a joint return this year (very soon, actually!)
This may be a different situation, but my son was born (many, many years ago!) on December 31st and when we filed the following year we received the tax credit for the entire previous year. Congrats and good luck!
