If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life what would it be?

Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Lawrence of Arabia, but frankly if I only watched one movie over and over for the rest of my life and did nothing else, that sounds like Hell :-) The Turner Classic Movies trailer seems better than the original, but I have included both. This movie is definitely best seen in an old theater that can host Panavision films. In that kind of theater it is magnificent and magical!!

The Princess Bride. I have seen that movie at least two hundred times in my lifetime, and I know it from begin to end, line to line. I constantly find myself quoting from it. My medieval literature professor actually had a party at her house during the holidays where our entire class insisted on watching this movie. Incredibly nerdy, maybe, but it's such a beautiful love story that I can't help myself. The romantic in me wins every time.

Besides, it produced one of the best quotes in the entire world: "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father, prepare to die."

Tampopo - from Japan. A comedy that has fun with Japanese culture, American westerns and a lot more. The main story involves the search for the perfect ramen recepie. This scene makes me hungry.

Groundhog Day.

Don't drive Angry.

Update:
You know i didn't really give this question to much of a chance to marinate in my brain, I'm sorry.

I would definitely choose Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993) as the only movie i could watch as it has made a great impact in my life and the score in the movie would help me threw the rest of it.

It's a Wonderful Life. It is a perfect film. Great story, strong performances, well-written dialog, one of the worlds most lovable protagonists and a timeless message. I cry, I laugh. I never get tired of that film.

This may be a bit of a "cheat," but I would pick the "Ring" (full name, "Der Ring des Nibelungen"), a video of four operas (the ring cycle) by Richard Wagner. The Ring gives you everything imaginable and more - gods, giants, dwarfs, dragons, nymphs, heroes, villains, sex, war, murder, fratricide, incest, adultery, and on and on and on. If you watch it, you'll see similarities to Lord of the Rings trilogy (not a bad pick either).

And by the way, the Ring offers some of the most magnificent music ever written. The cheat part is that it provides four related stories and takes 832 minutes (that's almost 14 hours).

Star Wars Episode four (first one). I have watched it so many times I can recite the lines along with it. I never get tired of it, it just takes me back to when I was six years old...

"Priscilla: Queen of the Desert"! It has love, adventure, fantastic music and the best costumes ever. Plus, it stars Hugo Weaving, Terrence Stamp and Guy Pearce . It does not get better than that!

If I'm going to watch a movie many, many times it has to have depth, a timeless story, beautiful scenery, and somehow capture a special place in my heart. For me that movie has to be the 3 parts of the Lord of the Rings. (I know that it's three theatrical releases, but it's one story).

The story is my favorite of all time. And this is one epic book that translated to movie in a wonderful way. The music, the scenery, the actors; it all combined to take Tolkien's trilogy to a whole new medium. I was completely prepared to be critical, but it wasn't long until I was caught up in the depth and emotion of the movie.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy was everything I expected and more. I would gladly watch it over and over.

No matter how many times I watch it I always notice new interesting or funny details. The film makes me laugh, and it's also heartwarming. I just feel good about life and life's possibilities when I watch it.
