If you could have any disappointing movie remade, what would it be?

There are a ton of movies that have come out over the years that were based on great ideas, but flopped because they did not hold up to expectations. What movie would you have remade?

I would have to go with "Cthulhu," since it was based on one of my favorite stories of all time. The movie was so poor, that they cancelled the theater release.

I would also love to see a version of "Minority Report" sans Tom Cruise, but that is just my opinion.

Hi. I think I would have to go with Postman, the 1997 Post Apocalyptic movie, starring Kevin Costner. The films story line was good, and the acting was good, but the movie itself was just too long! It dragged on for ever, and one tended to lose interest, as time went slowly by! I think if they remade this film, and cut alot out of it, it would be accepted as a much more interesting film. (personal opinion)

The most disappointing movie for me was Dragonball: Evolution. On one side we have the epic saga Dragon Ball, DragonBallZ, DragonballGT and on the other side we have this movie that transforms all the storyline and the characters into totally something else. First of all in the cartoons there was this spirit that has nothing to do with today's modern expression or the reality we know in America; the story takes place in Japan and people there have another way of expressing themselves and of being. The characters are interpreted in an autistic manner, the action has nothing to to with the one in the original saga...everything in wrong.

I'm sure I've seen many others over the years that I felt this way about, but the first to pop in to my head when I read this was "Australia" with Nicole Kidman. Two excellent lead actors in my opinion, a beautiful setting, not a bad basic storyline, but ... ugh. Too long, overblown. I was disappointed, but I think a much better job could have been done with that one.

Can anyone tell me what might have happened to the photo I embedded with my answer? It was there when I posted it and now *poof* it's gone. I've noticed this a couple of times now in my responses, but more of then not the images remain. Does it have something to do with where the images are located?

I agree Australia was too long and too smulchy to be a good movie. Good idea, bad execution

the most disappointing movie that i had watched and surely needs a remake is "ANGELS AND DEMONS" .
the movie had straightly swallowed a lot of characters and the main story line based upon the novel by Dan Brown.
1.It showed no theme of the CERN and it's king maximillan Kohler.
2.it didn't show the true plot of the path of illumination in the base line.
3.The killer ultimately remained a secret and no concern was given to him unlike the novel.
4.The deaths of the perferetti or the cardinals was not shown ( a major drawback that covered the thrill in the story).
5.the real story and plan of the camerlengo was gobbled up.

6.THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT: THEY DIDN'T SHOW THE 6 ILLUMINATUS BRANDS OF ILLUMINATI,EARTH,AIR,FIRE,WATER AND THEIR COMBINATION.

THIS FILM NEEDS A GOOD REVISION ABOUT THE NOVEL AND MUST REMAKE IT SO THAT WE PEOPLE CAN WATCH THE TRUE PLOT OF THE STORY.

If I were going to go with a movie remake I would have to say How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It's such a classic and wonderful story. It could have been an amazing movie but Ron Howard killed it. The humor was off, the characters were wrong and it was essentially kind of boring. As far as making Dr. Suess stories into movies, it's probably not the easiest thing but they could have done a lot more to make that movie better. I mean when they did The Cat in the Hat it was great. It was entertaining, fast-paced, and true to the essence of the original story.

Another movie that was a dissapointment and I think should be re-made is The DaVinci Code. (Suprisingly also done by Ron Howard.) It's a great book and I loved the actors they picked to do the movie but they need to either add information and action that they left out or shorten the movie. It was too slow-moving and it was just too long for the amount of story and information that was in it.

Why did you consider the answer by @ramkitten unhelpful?

Any real reason or just because you wanted to have their answer lower down the list than yours?

Post Office featuring Matt Dillon is an obvious candidate for this treatment. Matt is the man when it comes to playing tortured drug addled outsiders. But the screenplay for Post Office fails to capture the joy, humor or sheer bloodyminded joy of life that runs throughout the work of Charles Bukowski.

For those of you who have not read the work of Bukowski the godfather of the downbeat generation. Post Office is the place to start. It is a semi autobiographical tale of boozing, skiving and the pursuit of inappropriate women, while trying to break it as a writer on a broken down manual typewriter. Yes, there is darkness, yes there is desperation. But there is also a great humor and joy of life. Henry Chianaski the protagonist in the book is much more than just drunken brawling bum. He has self respect , damaged though it may be and a joy of life. He is following a dream of living outside the envelope of society and that idea is appealing to very many people especially in these financially challenged times.

John Belushi should have made this film had he not killed himself with drink and drugs first. There are very many up and coming stars Josh Rogan for example who could make this role work. And for those of you who think that Post Office is an unfilmable novel, think of the Academy award winning film LA Confidential an amalgam of three books by James Ellroy. Perhaps Post office could be amalgamated with it’s equally entertaining sequels Ham on Rye and Factotum? Now there is a film that people would want to see!
