People all know that basketball is sport that requires tall players to get any significant advantage. Thats why you need a 7 foot tall (Shaq, Yao Ming) player as your center. But when the average height of Filipino male is 5'5" you are fighting a losing battle in international sports. In Asia, China has the best basketball team. I don't the Philippines can even beat China in the Asian Games ever! So what's the point of the government and private sector to pour in millions on a sport you are unlikely to win medals?
But with Football at least you have a chance. Diego Maradona is only 5'5" and he's one of the world's best footballers. Height matters not in football. Its all about the skill, technique and teamwork. Nobody expected Greece to beat a far more superior, technically gifted, attacking style football Portugal in Euro2000. But a David did beat Goliath when Angelos Charisteas scored the only goal in the 57th minute to beat Portugal in the Final.
A lot of people even at home don't know this but FC Barcelona's best goal scoring record is held by a Filipino named Paulino Alcantara. Alcantara scored 357 goals / 357 appearances for the club.

M$I'm getting tired of every action show focusing on a hero or someone with special powers, so I would put the focus on his sidekick.
I would want it to focus on the angst of being in the shadow and being somewhat of a lackey to the hero. He would kind of commiserate with the goons of the enemy. I would juxtapose the awesomeness of being a hero with the mediocrity of being a sidekick.
However, he would not take over the role of hero at any point.
I love stories focusing on the sidekick or normal people surrounded by heroes, but part of me dies every time said sidekick eventually takes on the role of hero. I'd rather they just stay the sidekick, and the viewers get to see how he lives, not how he transcends his role. Sidekick-becomes-hero is too cliche.

M$Either Black Gryphon or The Codex Alera series.
I can picture the special effects, the actors, and how each episode would be broken down. Including when the lull in action would lend to a commerical break. All the way down to what could be cut for time or what could be built up for character development.
I get so bored sometimes.

M$I don't think nurses get enough attention in the media. On TV shows the nurses are always looked down upon when in real life they seem to help patents more than the doctors ever do.

Would it be reporting on it or a series revolving around soccer?
@mattman4
A nice format would be similar to what ESPN/StarSports shown here in asia called "Football Crazy" There is a a lively panel of pundits from a former football professional, a knowledgable fan and a pretty girl who likes football. But only Better! Football Crazy does football news and reports from around the world and then visits amateur football clubs all over asia or other points of interest.
To truly come up with a good football show for my country. You have to inform and educate. But to make it entertaining you have to make it Fun!
I'll toss in some skills training video and challenges similar to what UEFA.com Training Ground do. There are lots of thing you can do on a local football tv show. Many things are under-reported from the local media. In the absence of an actual professional football league. There are however, many local amateur tournaments being held. A lot of people don't know that even with the lack of any government support. Football in the Philippines is striving and is a popular sport.
