If you compare the GDP of Texas with the GDP of Singapore, which economy is bigger?

Tip for best answer: M$0.12
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

By comparing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Singapore in 2008 to the Gross State Product (GSP, the state equivalent of GDP) Texas is the larger of the two.

GPD/GSP Comparison
Singapore GDP 2008: $182 Billion USD
Texas GSP 2008: $1.224 Trillion USD

Population Comparison
Singapore: 4,839,400
Texas: 24,782,302

Per Capita GDP/GSP Comparison (no age metrics used)
Singapore: $37,607.97 per person
Texas: $49,390.08 per person

Based solely on GDP/GSP statistics Texas is the larger economy in dollars.
source(s):
Texas Data:
U.S. Census Bureau, Population Division
Bureau of Economic Analysis

Singapore Data:
World Bank, World Development Indicators

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I have a ton of questions under money. The questions are challenging but I think you would find the angles interesting. The key to my questions is to look at the complex picture. I think in a systematic method and connect correlations.

I hoping that soon that energy cost will begin to drop as new energy technology emerges. While the dooms-dayers are running rapid and the financial markets look unstable, I see the potential for at least 50 years of rapid growth due to cheap energy. I'm inspired by power law curve fitting predictions by Dieder.
