If you are out of the USA are you going to buy the Amazon Kindle now it is being released internationally?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think it is great that the Kindle is now being offered internationally. Great move by Amazon.com.

I checked the site today and it is available in my country.

I already have a Cybook and I am pretty happy with it so no, I don't think I will buy it.

However, I have a couple of friends that may consider it, now that it is available in my country. I know that a lot of international customers are pretty happy about Amazon.com's move.

Probably not, as I already have a mobile phone that will allow me to read E-books. Yes the larger screen and e-ink display would be nice, but the larger screen means that I'm not going to have the device with me everywhere.

However for most people It really depends on the pricing structure....
We've had the Sony E-readers in the UK for a couple of years. Yesterday was the first time I actually saw someone using one! I think its because it costs £200 plus books. The Kindle is likely to be in the same price range.

If they want to crack the UK (and european markets) they are should either sell it at the £50 price point. I'd buy it today if they did that!, or sell it at the £200 price point but include a credit towards £100-150 worth of books. If they did that then they'd entice book readers into the digital age. If they don't it will stay as a niche product and it will be another 2 years before I see one in the wild.

I wonder if they might consider subsidising it and letting people pay for it with a monthly contract like mobile phones? That'd be a killer!

No, because somehow Canada isn't one of the 100 countries it is being released in. Thanks to the CRTC of course (Canada's answer to the FCC)
