If the umpires in Major League Baseball aren't going to call the strike zone as it states in the rules, then should the rules by changed or
should the umpires be forced to call it as it states in the book? I think it's ridiculous that most pitches above the belt are called balls yet some pitches halfway between the knees and ankles are called strikes. What about pitches 6 inches off the plate called strikes? Might as well throw away the rules. What's the point in having the rules if they are not enforced? Might as well call a ball a few inches foul fair and if the ball is close to the foul pole call it a home run. Those are rules too. Of course joking on that, just trying to make a point.

I think there simply needs to be a refresher course for umpires that show them how the heck to call a strike a strike. It seems like every year the umps want to be part of the game a little bit more, and it appears now it’s almost a point of pride to have his own special strike zone.
I wish Major League Baseball would hold umpires accountable, have a review system that would actually get umpires suspended or fired if they aren’t making a high enough percentage of the right calls on balls and strikes. The MLB has always sort of prided itself on the human failure factor, but then they start doing things like having instant replay for home runs. If you are going to go out of your way to make sure you are getting some calls right, you should make sure you are getting every call right.
