If the concepts of OpenID and Gravatar are the same, if they merge, what will happen?

Gravatar depends on your email to set an avatar, OpenID depends on other things like your URL or yahoo ID for example!
I am not sure if this could be in a merge together as it seem to be conflicting some how to me!
