If Muslim martyrs are so enormously rewarded in the afterlife, then why are suicide bombers always unimportant people?
That is to say, why don't their leaders (i.e. Bin Laden, et al.) ever perform this sacred act? Logically, it would be self-destructive for a group to push suicide bombing throughout the ranks up to the leadership--there would be no one left after a time. But it begs the question: what is the response when one of the new initiates to their religious fanaticism asks why their teachers do not perform this ultimate, selfless act?

Nobody ever accused a suicide bomber of being smart. Terrorist groups that utulize suicide bombers target individuals who are easy to manipulate and who wouldn't ask questions of their superiors to become suicide bombers. The kind of person groups like that attract probably wouldn't even think to ask that question. Indeed, it's a very democratic thing to question leaders like that, and assuming that everyone in the world thinks like they do in democratic societies is a fallacy.

You are definitely right. I was thinking from my own perspective as a child of a free society. I wonder what would happen, since even these countries have access to internet, if someone would propose the idea, a challenge even, that the terrorist leaders follow their own training. While I wouldn't want to suggest more suicide bombings, the idea may cause some turmoil in their ranks.
