The answer is yes, and here's why it has to be that way. The moon does not emit any light of its own. It simply reflects sunlight. A full moon occurs when the line between the moon and the sun is nearly parallel to the line between the Earth and the moon. In that configuration the area of the moon visible from the Earth is almost entirely illuminated by the sun.

The Earth's rotation around its own axis, which is what brings the moon into view at any particular location on the Earth (be it Europe or the US or any other geographic location) does not change the angle between the sun-moon line and the moon-Earth line, so it must be full moon everywhere on the same day. Of course the same holds true for new moon or any other lunar phase.

That's what I was going to say. It doesn't matter where you live. But how high the full moon is at a certain time will depend on where you live. Just like when the Sun is rising in the US it is high in the sky in Spain, so it will be with the moon.

That sums it up pretty nicely and explains why. That was what I was wondering, is it different across various places on the planet. You have told me no, thanks, I think thats lovely. We have different seasons, different weather and different daytime and nighttime, but we all have the same moon.

Hi @ritzy

Here where I live in the United States (New Hampshire) The moon will be almost full tonight. November 2nd will be the next full moon. I can't wait for all the ghoulish surprises to go along with this almost perfect moon for the holiday.

Also~ the weather is cooperating and we have partly could skies and temperatures in the high 60s F. With a bit of wind and a partially obscured nearly full moon tonight things will be as creepy as they can get

Actually, no Im not, its a bit cloudy and my only research on this fact was "me looking at the sky". You are probably right, it wont be full moon till Nov. 2nd. However, thanks for your answer because its told me that it is full moon everywhere at the same time, which I did not know before now. Or is it possibly different in the southern hemisphere, or anywhere else on earth?

@ritzy are you sure its a full moon in Spain tonight? I have found another more reliable source that say the next full moon is November 2nd 2009.
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/MoonPhase.php

And another that says the next full moon in Barcelona will be on November 2nd 2009 as well.
http://www.meliv.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?obj=moon&n=31

According to the second source directly above the moon will be 95.7% full this evening. A very bright moon nonetheless.
