Here are some easy cake decorating ideas, if you just can't or don't have the time to frost and do an elaborate decorating job. There are ways to decorate a cake without all the delicate roses or swag borders. Hope it would be helpful to you also...........

Unfortunately, this is something that you will usually have to do from the bottom up. Some Michael's Crafts locations do offer cake decorating classes, but this also depends on whether or not someone in your area is knowledgeable about the subject and is willing to teach said class. Another option would be to learn all you can independently in your home, and create a repertoire of recipes you have mastered. You would then want to go to every bakery in your area and see if they are hiring, bringing your list of mastered recipes with you. If none are, you may want to ask if they could use a volunteer on almost an intern level, and explain to them that you wish to learn all that you can from them. If all deny you, check back at least every week or so, and one is likely to give you something to do. Hope this helps!

As a professional Cake Decorating Trainer, I would consider being an "Intern" at a local cake shop. Even Duff uses Interns. It is the newest Fad among small cake shops. They get free labor and you get free training. Some shops will test you for a couple days to make sure you are serious about learning and not just wanting to do the "fun" things. You do have to start at the bottom, maybe greasing cake pans or scooping cookies even washing dishes, but if you stick with it you can learn how to decorate cakes.

I have tips on facebook.com/learntodecoratecakes. I started by reading lots of books and then practicing. It takes practice to get good at anything! Once I knew the basics, I took some Wilton courses.
