Judging from your name and question, I guess your main preference is the First Person Shooter genre. I'm sorry to say this but God of War does not contain any game play similar to these games. God of War is a straight out 3rd person action game similar to the popular Devil May Cry series where you control a single character and hack and slash your way throughout the entire game, beating bosses and solving a puzzle or 2 on the way.
If you were to ask me, just give the game a try. Most shooter-type games are action based and God of War is one of the best when it comes to providing that. Besides, it’s better to experience other types of games once in a while. The shooter genre in my opinion has been pretty stale lately, which a lot of games just copying one another and not really giving unique experiences. God of War is one of the best exclusives Sony's got so it should at least grab your attention once you try it.
