If I have an iPhone on a phone line do I have to pay for data?
I am getting a new iPhone and was wondering if I put my wife's sim card in my iPhone if ATT will start charging me because it is not the dumb phone she had before

I've been an iPhone customer since they were released and believe that the data plan is a part of the contract - unless you're getting one secondhand, I doubt they'll sell you one without a hassle. However, there are ways to get around this.
Some people suggest calling ATT and having them block data so your phone isn't able to pick it up at all. A cursory Google search yielded this thread:

I know it mentions using a "first generation" iPhone but it should be the same process for others. Hope this helps!
