The answer is 'Sometimes'. Normally, ebooks you buy on Amazon will be downloaded to only one of your Kindles.
However, there are ways around that: If you register both Kindles on the same account, with the same credit card for purchases, the ebooks acually WILL be downloaded to all of your registered Kindles, up to six ones.
If the Kindles are not sharing the same account, they cannot share ebooks.

As an alternative, you can use Calibre, a free software, that lets you manage all ebooks on all your ebook reading devices (Kindle, iPad, smartphone, or other). A highly recommended tool.
