If a bio-computer or computer displays emotions +/or self awareness, should it be given rights?
Does it matter to your opinion if the machine has biological components or not?
If it deserves rights should it have human rights(ex. Voting, Marrage)or just animal rights (Humane Treatment)?

Hm. tough question. I think we have to look at the qualifications of "life".. life is defined as...(biologically speaking)
Quote----
life (lf)
n. pl. lives (lvz)
1. The property or quality that distinguishes living organisms from dead organisms and inanimate matter, manifested in functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, and response to stimuli or adaptation to the environment originating from within the organism.
2. The characteristic state or condition of a living organism.
3. Living organisms considered as a group.
4. A living being, especially a person.

And then we have to consider what the characteristics of life are within this definite and whether or not a computer with self awareness meets them
I thought there were 5 characteristics of life.. but this link says 6 so oh well..

Actually I would say a machine with biological components would likely meet at least 4/6 listed within. As a result I would consider it a living thing and therefore worthy or rights. Human rights? No, animals rights? Yes.
