Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Being an artist and being a star are two different things.

Look for a local place that fits your style of music. While I was in college, I sang at a jazz bar for a while - it didn't pay much, but it was a lot of fun and let me meet quite a few people in the industry. If you're good, your reputation will grow.

Don't ever take a "gig" where you have to pay them to play there. I have seen people do this and it is such a waste. It's a similar scam to ones where you have to pay to get a list of work at home jobs - if the place was worth anything to a performer, they'd be paying the performers to work for them, because entertainers who are good expect pay.

Don't play in subways. You're extremely likely to go unnoticed: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/04/AR2007040401721.html

Try to get noticed.
See if you can perform in local venues and invite friends.
Find other people like you, possibly form a band.
