My ex-husband desecrated my credit. He maxed out credit cards, had my van repoed and left some hefty bills in my name under collections. Now I am trying to repair it without going into bankruptcy. One of the first things I did was to get a credit card with CreditOne bank. They approve almost everyone.

What you need to know about this card is this. They will give you a $200 limit and then turn around and and charge your card $39 processing and $69 yearly fee. It won't leave you much out of the original $200. Start paying this off and free up more credit on your card. The interest is high but it is a start. I use mine for gas and pay it out every pay period. By doing this I am establishing good credit and in a year I will apply for a better credit card offering better terms.

Make sure that you are not late in paying because this is your opportunity to fix the problems that you have. Since getting my creditone card, I have financed a truck. Eventually the bad credit will disappear behind all of the new good credit that you are building.

In order to get a credit card even if you have a bad credit, try applying for a credit card at small retail stores. There is a certain chance that these small companies will approve your application. If you have a bad credit before, all you have to do is establish a good credit history with your newly approve credit card, either by paying the minimum amount due or paying more than the amount due. Another alternative is you can go to your bank, credit union or savings institution. One thing is certain for them, you already have a record of your business in their files, they will be eager to provide you with a credit card. Other options in getting a credit card if those two methods I suggested fails is to apply for secured credit card, this means you have open a savings account as security for your line of credit. Your credit line maybe according to a certain percentage of maintained deposit account. To make it more secure, you may ask for favors from friends to be co-signatories of the credit card, their credit score will be considered. Hope this helps. Happy New Year!!!!

I would recommend a prepaid credit card, I like visa because it is taking all most every. I think prepaid credit card because you are in control of your money, you get free direct deposit. This what I love the best No overdrafts, No unexpected charges. This is a good way to build your credit with out debt or commitment because you only spend what you put on your card.

You could use a prepaid credit card, some cards have the option of a credit builder, this is basically a loan that is loaded onto the card but which helps build your credit. Prepaid credit cards are better than credit cards becuase you stay in control of the finances and only load the amount you want to use on to the card.

As someone who was in your situation a year ago, I can tell you that you may get offers for credit cards despite your poor credit rating, but beware! These cards often come with obscenely high interest rates and, even worse, application fees and account maintenance or membership fees.

The most important question you need to ask yourself before we go any further is why do you want the card? If you want it because you want to slowly rebuild your credit by making small purchases and promptly paying them off, you should get a credit card. If you want it because you want to have funds available for an emergency, such as a medical expense or unexpected, necessary car repair, you should definitely read on. If you want a card because you want to buy yourself things (big or small) and you don't currently have the cash flow to do it, stop reading and reconsider. This will only cause you more problems. I speak from experience, not from a high horse.

Assuming you want a credit card for the right reasons, there are several websites, such as www.creditcards.com, where you can search for cards based on your credit rating. You can view the cards you will most likely --but not necessarily-- be approved for and compare the fees.

Through this site I was able to get approved for a Capital One card with a fairly high interest rate but no annual or application fees. If you can avoid getting a card with such fees, I certainly advise you to. They can add up quickly. Some companies that cater to people with poor credit, but who like to hit you with lots of fees are First Premier and Orchard Bank.

You need to read the terms very carefully. Fine print can be really exhausting but you will pay for it dearly if you skip it.

Also, I would only apply for one card at a time and wait for a response before applying for another card (assuming you get denied). Every time you apply for credit, it had an adverse effect on your credit score.

Good luck!
