I would like suggestions on places to stay on Maui. We have stayed at the Hyatt and liked it ,but would like something a little cheaper.

Tip for best answer: M$0.10
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I lived in Hawai'i 13 years and I know of no "bad" hotel in Maui. The whole island is beautiful and everything is near the beach. Look on line at Orbitz or travelocity for package deals. Call the hotel and see if they are willing to book directly for less than what you quote you found on line, they may appreciate not having to split commission with the websites

If I were you, I'd check out condo rentals instead. The Hyatt, along with all of the other resorts along Kaanapali Beach is definitely expensive. You can save a ton of money by searching for condo rentals in Maui instead.

Tips on getting the best deal on a condo rental in Maui: http://www.paradise-found-in-maui.com/condo-rentals-in-maui.html

Also, you can check out the Hawaii Entertainment Book - there are tons of coupons in it that will save you a bundle on restaurants and activities, plus, special discounts on accommodations too! Here is a link for more info, plus what coupons are in there for Maui:

For a less expensive hotel than the Hyatt, but still on the same resort beach area, I suggest the Kaanapali Beach Hotel http://www.mauihawaii.org/hotels-condos/kaanapali-beach-hotel.htm .

It is often cheaper to stay in a condo instead of a hotel. A list of condos on the west side of Maui, with links to reviews and photos of each one, is at
http://www.mauihawaii.org/hotels-condos/west-maui-condos.htm
