I wonder how those great good men and women of history overcame thoughts about quitting. Can someone recommend a good book on this topic?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Randy Pausch, the world famous professor at Carnegie Mellon University talked about brick walls as symbols in "The Last Lecture". Dr. Pausch delivered his last lecture at CMU when he knew he was dying of pancreatic cancer at 47 and would leave behind his wife and three small kids. The video of the lecture has been seen by 10 million people and the book based on it has been on the best seller list for more than a year.

CMU recently dedicated a new student walkway in his memory which ends in a brick wall . An article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette talked about the dedication of the walkway and the symbolism in it:

"In his phenomenally successful last lecture, Dr. Pausch talked about never giving up on your goals in life, despite obstacles and setbacks. "Brick walls are there for a reason," he said. "And once you get over them -- even if someone has practically had to throw you over -- it can be helpful to others to tell them how you did it."

He has inspired millions of people and although he died, his lecture continues to be a source of strength.
