I want to start a local site that's mostly an aggregator of other local blogs. What CMS should I use to easily link to posts?

I'm starting a local site and want to easily be able to quickly add a link to a post on another site. I haven't decided if I'd like it automated or manual entry, but maybe some type of moderation of posts coming in through RSS feeds would be easiest. It'd be nice if I could add comments, but not absolutely necessary. I've grown pretty accustomed to WordPress, but I feel like I wouldn't need it's full posting functionality most of the time. Is there a simple plugin for WordPress I could use, or is there a CMS out there that would be a good fit?

PS - Not trying to steal the content, just grab a little intro and image that link to the external site...

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you want to be physically involved with every post, making decisions, adding tags, and such, your best bet is to simply use a news reader and integrate that with your blog so that you can quickly submit new posts directly from your news reader.

But that's a lot of work. What may be better for you in the end is to set up a "planet" style aggregator that simply sucks in the RSS feeds you point it at and makes brand new blog posts based on the entries in those feeds. Then at your leisure you can add markup to those post entries.

For this, try Feed Wordpress: http://feedwordpress.radgeek.com/

Since you're not wanting to steal the content and repost it as your own, you'll want to make sure you set it up to only include the summary of the RSS item in your post. That way you'll be driving traffic to your source feed sites.

One nice thinga bout serving up a planet of feeds like this is that you're actually "rehosting" the content so that your posts are search-engine-friendly and indexable.

I would try Concrete5. It's a great new content management system the is easy for developers and even easier for users. It works on an inline editing system so you edit your site as you navigate through it. Demo it here: http://bit.ly/concrete5cms
