I want to learn Mandarin or Cantanese as I am going to North Beijing

If u go to Beijing,it's much better for u to learn Mandarin.
Chinese language is composed of several dialects.And Mandarin means a more or less uniform spoken form of the Chinese language based loosely on the dialect of Beijing and used by officials in late imperial China.U know there are several different kind of Chinese, like Cantonese(guangdong hua),Shanghaiese(shanghai hua),Mandarin is more direct into putong hua.
