I want to connect a VCR and DVD directly to a computer monitor. Is that possible?

If I need an inexpensive converter to match connectors (RGB to HDMI for example) I am okay with that.

I'm need to buy a TV/Monitor but I don't need a digital or analog tuner, I won't be receiving in any signals except through the DVD or VCR. I don't plan on connecting a computer to it any time soon.
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It is possible. You would need a converter like this one for most monitors: http://www.svideo.com/video2vga1.html

As an alternative, there are monitors that have multiple inputs including composite, component, and s-video. However, the quality of the display might not be as good. They are not very common and are typically more expensive.

You might be better off getting a TV. It will have all the inputs you need and it should be easier to find a good quality display at a reasonable price.

VCR - unlikely.

DVD - possibly - if it is new.

Most LCD monitors have a digital connector on them. The most common digital interface is the DVI connector although HDMI are becoming common. It is the HDMI that allows connection to digital devices like DVD players, game consoles, etc.
