Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You must have a pretty good idea when you plan to buy a laptop. You should think for what you are going to use this laptop and you should have a budget for your laptop.

If you are planning on for entertainment like movies and games, you may need a powerful laptop. If you just want for internet and email, a normal laptop would be enough.

If you are going for a powerful laptop, it would be billing you upto 1000$-1100$ like HP Pavilion HDX16.

If you are OK with a normal laptop, you can finish within about 800$. For example, HP TouchSmart tx2z Tablet PC.

I am forcing you to buy HP. But it is a popular brand for quality. Choose the PAVILION series when buying and HP laptop.

Other popular brands :
ASUS
DELL
SONY (Vaio)
TOSHIBA

Look at Dell on their website, especially the refurbished ones. I have purchased about 4 laptops from there and never had a problem. Remember to always do software maintanence at least every week (clean up disk to get rid of cookies, run full antivirus (even tho it is working in background Avast is good free program) anti spyware such as defender and defrag (auslogics is a free and good program)Do it in that order!.

I'd say go with the Sony. Normally I'd go with an HP or a Sony. I have a bunch of friend that work with computer for a living and they said I should get one of these too. Toshibas are close to HP but they are a little less reliable and don't look as good. Sonys are more expensive than HP for the same features. HPs also have nice covers and not plastic looking ones like many dells and Toshibas have. But it depends what features you are looking for too.

There are a few questions you need to ask yourself first. What are you going to use the computer for? Are you going to use it for just internet and e-mailing? Or will you want it for gaming? And will you be carrying it around with you all the time or will it just sit on a desk for most of the time? In answering these questions will determine which notebook is right for you.

For what purpose do you want to purchase a laptop? For work or just to stay connected online?
If you need a lapy for work then go for Dell or Sony otherwise purchase a netbook (mini-laptops). It will cost you less than a laptop, they are small in size , handy, portable & sleek. I am having one and m in love with my netbook (based on Intel Atom processor).
