I wake up in the morning and feel depressed thinking of my workplace, why?

I have nice work, nice mates at work and my boss is ok. Why do I get depressed just thinking about work? I never feel depressed on Sunday!

If you wake up in the morning and feel depressed thinking about work, there could be several reasons. First of all, maybe you don't really feel fulfilled with the work that you are doing. Some people feel like they need to make a difference to people in their work, so they would not feel happy about going to a job where they don't feel someone is being benefitted or something meaningul is being done. Another possibility is the fact that some people only like working for themselves, so just the fact that you are required to do to a place and stay there for a specific number of hours day in and day out could be depressing to some entrepreneurial types. Artistic people often can't stand working in an office because of their creative personalities. That is another possibility.

Maybe you aren't using the skills you excel in at your job so you feel you have talent that is being wasted. That prospect can be depressing, even if you have a job you don't hate. Perhaps you have a desire, either conscious or unconscious, to be doing something else with your days. That would explain why you aren't depressed on the weekends when the day is yours, but feel depressed thinking about work.

Even though you say that all is well at work, there is some underlying reason why you feel this this feeling of dread at the thought of going there.

To help you discover what is behind this unpleasant situation and try to help you find a remedy, I would need to know more about the situation. For instance, how long have you worked there and have you always felt this way? If you have not, at what point did it start and what was happening in your life at this time?

How do you feel during the journey to work, worse or better, having made the decision to attend? When you arrive and walk in the door, again, do you feel better or worse as you greet your work mates? As the working day progresses and you then return home, how do you feel throughout this time?

Maybe if you ask yourself these questions, it might shed some light on why you feel this way. If not, is there some other unfulfilled wish you have in your life that you feel you could be achieving if you did not have to go to work?

Sorry to be vague, but I would need some details to be more helpful to you.

It is unusual that you feel depressed when you wake up thinking about work. You said that you like your colleagues, your work, and also your boss. So, it is definitely puzzling for you to be anxious just thinking about it. Perhaps, you keep on thinking negative thoughts about work when you wake up. You are allowing yourself to feel miserable about it. You can start thinking the opposite and inject positive thoughts when you wake up. You can be surprised at how much this can change your life.

It has been said that when you change your thoughts, you can also change your world. When you make this a habit for twenty-one straight days, you can experience a big difference when you wake up.
