I think I'm missing something relatively simple when I'm attempting to use my gigabit switch, I need some help. Info in details section.
I bought a D-Link DGX 2208 gigabit switch and a linksys wrt54g2 wireless router via the suggestion of a highly network savvy friend to get the benefit of wireless as well as a true gigabit intranet connection for streaming hi definition media from my pc to my tv via Popcorn Hour.
I began with my linksys and plugged it into the modem and then my pc and ran a line over to my popcorn hour setup. Everything worked fine. Streaming and internet and wireless all worked very well, but of course some of the high bitrate HD movies don't run amazingly well on the wireless intranet so today I attempted to set up my switch, and here is where I am. This is where I think pretty easily you can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I have come from the modem straight into my switch. I ran a line to my PC which is able to access the internet no problem. I then ran a line to popcorn hour from the switch and popcorn hour cannot access the internet nor does it see my PC as it did when I used my wireless router.
What am I doing wrong? Is there something I am not realizing? My ISP is comcast btw.

Try this:
go to the network part of your popcorn hour setup screen and make sure that you disable the wireless network and enable the wired (LAN) network.
Sometimes devices can get confused if they have two interfaces connected to the same network.
If all else fails, you should reset your popcorn hour to factory default and reconfigure it to use only the LAN (wired) network
Here is a link to their instructions for that

M$Ran a line... from the PC? The Linksys? The modem? What?
Also, is the cable that you're using from the switch to the Popcorn Hour the same cable you were using with the linksys?
Is everything plugged into the correct port?
Try adjusting the configuration settings on the Popcorn Hour...
Also, it might be helpful if you drew a diagram.

M$One side note about D-Link and Linksys, in my opinion these brands aren't the greatest unless you replace their onboard OS with something like Tomato or DD-WRT. It's been a while since I've had to shop for a router, but if they're out of litigation and back on the market I'd highly recommend a brand like Buffalo. Just my $0.02.
