I think I have astigmatism, can I correct it?

Can you use laser surgery to correct astigmatism? Can astigmatism lead to glaucoma? What are the leading reasons for astigmatism?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Astigmatism usually is caused by an irregularly shaped cornea. But in some cases, astigmatism is caused by the shape of the lens inside the eye. This type of astigmatism is called lenticular astigmatism, to differentiate it from the more common corneal astigmatism.

And yes, refractive surgery such as LASIK also can correct most types of this disease. Discuss with your eye doctor which procedure is best to correct your astigmatism.

For more information, read here some infos : http://www.premiumeyecenters.com/medical-procedures/lasik/
