I received this book as a gift and I already have it; how do I return it and get a gift card in recep?

If it is current book, take it to a chain bookstore. Barnes and Noble is good about accepting returns without a receipt. Take it to cash register in the store when you go in, and return it. They will ask for your id when you do. They'll give you a gift card for their store when you return it.
