about Best Buy Return Policy
I need to return an item that didn't work for me. I purchased yesterday but willl not work for my needs. Its been opened. What's the policy?
My daughter bought me a dock so that I could transfer my old hard drive from my old laptop that wouldn't power on to my new computer I just purchased from Best Buy. I couldn't figure it out and it was pretty intimidating so I brought my computers to our local computer repair store and they transfered it for me. Can I return this item to you now that it's been opened? Thank you

Here is the exact Best Buy policy although you have to go and return it with the box and all packaging and instructions to have any kind of a chance.
What is your return policy?
Our goal is to ensure that you are completely satisfied with your purchase. When you receive your package, we ask that you examine it closely prior to opening the factory sealed product packaging. If you are not satisfied with your order, you may exchange or return your product at any Best Buy retail store in Canada.
For your convenience, we also accept returns by mail for orders that were shipped directly to you. Please fill out our Return Qualification Form to request for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. It will take approximately 2 business days before an RMA is issued to you. IMPORTANT: Packages returned without an RMA number will be refused. Your RMA number is valid for 14 days. Simply return the product in the same condition as when you purchased it, with all manuals, accessories, and the packing slip. Click here to fill out our Return Qualification Form.
We would be pleased to exchange or give you a refund in-store on most items you buy online, up to 30 days after your receive your order. Items purchased online, but picked up in a store, can only be returned to one of our stores with the sales receipt provided at the time of the pickup.
Due to copyright laws, computer and game console software, music CDs, DVDs and videos in opened packages may only be exchanged for the same item. Shipping and handling (S&H) charges are non-refundable; however, we will gladly refund your original shipping cost if you are returning an item because of an error on our part, or we have determined that the product is defective.
All products (both defective and non-defective) must be returned in their original purchase condition, with the original packing material, blank warranty cards, manuals and any other item or accessory provided by the manufacturer. IMPORTANT: In the event that a returned order has items missing, the order may be refused, or the value of the missing materials may be deducted from the total credit amount.
On purchases made with a credit card, the same card used to make the purchase will be credited with the refund. The credit will be made within 5 to 7 business days of us receiving and verifying the returned merchandise.
