I need to pick up a good mp3 player before my flight. Not iPod because I hate the iTunes interface. Suggestions?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Zune Software has a really nice interface, IMO. However, some people love it or hate it- i would suggest downloading it and giving it a go before making a Zune purchase. Give it a little bit of time, there is a slight learning curve. Download it here: http://www.zune.net/en-us/software/download/default.htm

My other suggestion is to pick up a cheap Sansa Clip or Fuze. Not nearly the same build quality (light and plasticy but still durable) as the Zune of the iPod but its absolutely the best value for the money. The nice thing about these Sansas is that you dont need any software- simply drag and drop you music to the player like a flash drive. I have seen the Clips sell for as low as $20 with free shipping- don't be afraid to buy refurbished.

If you absolutely wont get an iPod your second best option would be a Zune since it's from another reliable company.

I also like the ones from Creative. They support a lot of different file formats for audio and video, without requiring you to convert each file before loading it onto the device.
