You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Acer aspire timeline:
$598 - this is actually meant to do a little lighter task things (internet, email, word processing, very basic gaming), but does it with an amazing 8 hours of battery life
Dell XPS Studio 13:
$999 - this is a little heavier on the features with a core 2 duo, edge to edge 13.3 inch screen, and it looks really nice in my opinion.
Gateway TC7804u
$699 - 2.0 Ghz Intel core 2 due, 4gb ram, 320 GB, 14 inch LED display, touch sensitive media controls, and it looks really nice
Any of these choices would be pretty good, if you gave me a little more detail about what you want to do, I could reply with a laptop that may suit your taste more

M$I know of a great auction site where you can get a laptop for almost 1/2 of its price. Go to www.ubid.com. I have bought $600 desktops from this site for $250 to $300 before. I don't believe a lot of people know of the site compared to ebay but I have been buying stuff from here for over 10 years and the quality is always great and you get exactly what you pay for.
