Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

for an all purpose portable, you could get one of these:
Acer aspire timeline:
$598 - this is actually meant to do a little lighter task things (internet, email, word processing, very basic gaming), but does it with an amazing 8 hours of battery life

Dell XPS Studio 13:
$999 - this is a little heavier on the features with a core 2 duo, edge to edge 13.3 inch screen, and it looks really nice in my opinion.

Gateway TC7804u
$699 - 2.0 Ghz Intel core 2 due, 4gb ram, 320 GB, 14 inch LED display, touch sensitive media controls, and it looks really nice

Any of these choices would be pretty good, if you gave me a little more detail about what you want to do, I could reply with a laptop that may suit your taste more

If you can tell me what your budget is I am sure I can recommend a few. Don't want to recommend some and have you look at them and be dissapionted the price is to high.

I know of a great auction site where you can get a laptop for almost 1/2 of its price. Go to www.ubid.com. I have bought $600 desktops from this site for $250 to $300 before. I don't believe a lot of people know of the site compared to ebay but I have been buying stuff from here for over 10 years and the quality is always great and you get exactly what you pay for.

They have a Dell Studio 17" WXGA Duo Core 2.0 GHz 4GB RAM 320 GB HD DVD/RW http://www.ubid.com/Dell__Studio_17%22_WXGA_Duo_Core_2.0_GHz_4GB_RAM_320_GB_HD_DVD%2fRW/a703660881.html this is running for $575 to purchase with 2 hr 45 min left

Dell Studio 15.4" WXGA Duo Core 2.0GHz 4GB RAM 320 GB HD DVD/RW
http://www.ubid.com/Dell__Studio_15.4%22_WXGA_Duo_Core_2.0GHz_4GB_RAM_320_GB_HD_DVD%2fRW/a703660830.html going for 599 to buy and 579 to bid with 2hr 45 min left

and Gateway MD2614u Notebook,AMD Dual-Core 2.1GHz 15.6 TFT http://www.ubid.com/Gateway_MD2614u_Notebook%2cAMD_Dual-Core_2.1GHz_15.6_TFT/a802731795.html going for $579 to buy or $549 to bid with 3hrs left

Hopefully you see this before they run out :O)

For your budget there are many different options. Just so you know though you can get a lot more bang for your buck if you were to purchase a desktop. I understand though if you need a laptop. Check out the desktop section to. You will be amazed at the prices.

Lets see, i cant recommend anything without a budget quotient. But try these websites
deals2buy.com
edealsinfo.com
You might find some coupons that you can use to purchase your desired laptop at a discounted price.
If you have a specific brand in mind, just search for coupons or deals for that brand. Most laptops companies let you custom build your laptop and then apply these coupons to get a deal..

Good Luck with your purchase
