I need help setting up my Wordpress blog, and I'll pay for it! :) More inside!

Ok. My problem is:

I'm trying to set up a Romanian gaming blog. All the links will lead to Mahalo. If you know :
http://www.mahalogaming.com/

my blog is the same, but in different language.

http://www.game-4-fun.ro/blog/ ( THIS IS NOT SPAM! )

Ok...the blog is in Wordpress, and what I want to know is how to improve it. So, what I'm looking for is a good answer with advices: how to set up my twitterfeed for better results, what to add, what to remove...Things like that.

Consider this a How-to set up a great blog task!
The prize will be awarded within 3 days!
Thanks guys!
Vlad

PS...I'm not a big blogger, and Wordpress it's the only thing I now...:)) so...please take it easy on me!:)
Tip for best answer: M$6.05
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I don’t know Romania language but I manage to use Google Translate to read it in English.
Think of this, if your blog is good, it can be used by non-Romanian users too. :-)

One of the important aspects is to know your goal of having this blog (and the twitter).
Do you want to drive traffic/revenue to your store or have your blog earns revenues too ?

Features to add:
1. Monetize your blog. Put ads on it. I think Gaming ads are lucrative.

2. Use AddThis, give ease to peoples who want to share your post out.
http://www.addthis.com/services
There are 200+ channels that can be used as marketing channels.

Click on “Compare services by country”, choose Romania and United States.
You will have an idea of what channel to use to market your blog.

It eases your users and yourself to share the blogpost out.

TwitterFeed will feed your new post to Twitter.
You can tweet your old post out by using AddThis. Easier.

3.To have consistency on your Twitter feed, you can schedule your tweets using HootSuite or Socialoomph.
This will be useful if you are away for some time but don’t want to “abandon” your follower.
HootSuite
http://hootsuite.com/index.php

Socialoomph
http://www.socialoomph.com/
Socialoomph can even set it as recurring. Use it with care, it may turn your users off.

4. To make your blog having consistent post, you can do the following:
You can set up as below: post to your blog using email.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_to_your_blog_using_email

You can then use this scheduled email: letter me later
http://www.lettermelater.com/

When you are free, write many back-up posts. When you are not free for some time, use “letter me later” to schedule your posting.
It will be automated nicely: scheduled blogpost, then auto twitterfeed, even when you are not around.

Some comments on the blog (twitter) and in general :
1. You video clips are not in sequence, for example “’Splosion man”.
At least post it in sequences, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3…. etc.

2.Your asking of peoples of don’t do this and that may turn off some peoples.
I think when they comment that way, then only you moderate the comments or delete their comments.

3.You may have marketed too much for Mahalo but not your own store.
Have you got Mahalo Pages on gaming ? Try to get some so that you can earn from the pages.
In a way, your blog contributes mostly to Mahalo but not to your store and yourself.

4. Write some blogposts (texts) giving your insights on the games.
Peoples may want to hear your ideas, insights, especially when you are in the industry.

5. I think you should get another twitter account for gaming for your store/blog.
Your personal twitter account may have too many unrelated posts (e.g. Mahalo). It may be a turn-off for your gaming fan.

6. Is there a way to use a nickname or your name ? “admin” seems distant.

7. I would suggest you change the World of Warcraft picture. It’s nice but peoples may think it’s only for Warcraft.

8. It may be lucrative for you if you can put link in your post to your store, for example on the Splosion Man blogpost, if user finds it interesting, he can click on the link to see the product info in your store.
Is it a e-store ?

Note:
In your blog, @Gno’s MahaloGround blog has become the de-facto Mahalo’s blog. :-)
source(s):
websites mentioned in texts.

I didn't translate the page. Google Translate (in my Google toolbar) does it.
Just a click of button, it changes on its own.

I prefer the button type that is small and when click then only expand.
I don't like "too many buttons". Look messy.

"Etichet" texts are not so visible now.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer! I can't believe you translated the page! Ok...if you take a look, I modified the theme. I'm also waiting for google and another site to approve my subscription to monetize the blog. More changes to come based on your advice! I'll add content to the posts as well!

Again, Thank you!

Hi There. The blog isn't in english so I can't really comment on the content but here is what I would do:
Add some 'call to action' buttons... a button to Tweet This Post, Subscribe to RSS by Email - basically things that will bring new users in and bring people back. Feedburner offers a free 'subscribe to rss by email' service so I would use that, and I would use the Wordpress "Tweet This" plugin.

Also, when you post a video, it's good to post a short description of what the video is about. This helps with SEO - it gives Google something to index, so that users might find your site when they search for certain keywords.

It is confusing that the banner is World of Warcraft, but the videos are all Splosion Man - I would change the banner to something more generic.

Also that banner space is a big empty space... I would put some clickable buttons up there, like a subscribe button, and follow me on Twitter.

Definitely install the "Add to Any" plugin (or one like it), which lets users share your posts on a variety of social networks.

I actually think your Twitter feed is OK - it's pretty basic, and the tweets all link to twitter so there's not much more you could do.

Last thing is just my preference - I think the font sizes are a little bit too small.

Hope that helps.

Here are several things I'm seeing:

1. The calender looks nice, but I don't think the average user is going to need it. If I came looking for a walk-through of Call of Duty, for example, I'm not going to know what date it was posted on. You have categories; so use that.

2. If you can, edit Wordpress out of your footer. I noticed that you've already taken the Admin login out--that's good. Now go set up another user account with another name, give it only editorial privileges, and use that to post. You could also set up a third user account with some secret name, name it the admin, and then delete the original admin account. Every hacker in the world can figure out how to hack your site using "admin" but will they know "auntlilysfavoritenephew"? Since you'll never post under that name it would be hard to figure out.

3. I see you've got a good social networking plugin, AddMe. That's great! It does take quite a bit of space, but that's fine if that works for you and your audience. I use ShareThis myself; it pops up on hovering over it and has a huge number of services it supports. It also lets me order them. When it's not being hovered over, it's just a little, brightly-colored symbol.

4. I would put a little description on each video: "Call of Duty 15 and 16" could have "Starts in the transport entering Stalingrad; ends in the square in Moscow" (or wherever it does) just to help people know where in the game the videos start and end, and what's in between. Any tips you have could be included.

5. Consider adding a tool like Twitterdoodle. It lets you set up searches for terms and lets you display the search terms and only the search terms. But also set up a Twitter account just for this page, to make it easier to keep in contact with your users.

6. Monetize this! Use plugins for Adsense or whatever you can use where you are. Get an affiliate account and link to Amazon, if you can, or some similar service so you can sell the games you have walk-throughs for. Also set up whatever Mahalo pages you can and feature those videos prominently.

7. You might think of WP less of a blog and more of a way to set up a full-blown website. What features more than you have do you want? Do you want the dialogue with users to stay in the comments? Do you want to bring it into Twitter on a new account for your site? Do you want forums? All of this helps.

8. This loaded fast, so your SuperCache plugin appears to be working.

9. I didn't see if you're using Google Xsites plugin, which will help Google index your pages faster and get you higher in rankings faster. Of course, fast chaching will help with that.

Nice theme for the topic.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer! As you can see I'm following any advice I receive. I modified the users as you said. Can you please elaborate how Twitterdoodle works? And Google Xsites. Where can I find it? Also , a forum would be nice.

" Do you want to bring it into Twitter on a new account for your site?" What do you mean by that? The comments? YES! How?

Thank you so much!
