I need a diagram showing how to wire my semaphores into the blinker switch. 1954 VW Bug. Where can I find this?

the wires are already hooked up to the semaphores and sticking out under the hood. I just need to know where they go now.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Perhaps you can ask the question in a different way, or explain exactly what you cannot understand!

I am a auto electrician. (I actually rewire trains) I looked at the wiring diagrams shown to you and all the information needed is there and they could not be more specific apart from a photograph. It should be a VERY SIMPLE job to wire them in going by those diagrams.

There is only a total of three wires, 1 feed to the center pole of the switch and 2 further wires, 1 to each indicator arm.

If you connect them the wrong way round all that will happen is the opposite arm will operate.

It has been many years since I have worked on a bug, but from memory the section of dashboard\cabin loom terminates in the boot space where you have the 2 wires from the signal arms. (Apology's if my memory is shot, lol)

It should be a simple matter of connecting the appropriate coloured coded wire to the end of the loom, (the control arm has a short 3 wire loom already attached?)

If you need to attach the wires to the switch the wiring diagram SHOWS (graphically) which wire goes to which terminal.

Again if you are unsure a simple test with a multimeter\continuity tester will tell you which terminal is which!

As there is a risk of fire with all electrical wiring, if you are unsure\incapable of follow these simple (to those trained) diagrams, I suggest you get a qualified\trained auto electrician to to this simple and quick (for him) job.
It should take no longer than 15 mins, including the time to look at the diagrams.

Good luck mate, I will check in on this question at a later time to see if I can advise you further if you explain 'what' you do not understand.

No worries, physically look at the switch, the centre contact is the 'common' BUT if you have flashing indicators fitted they will not work! The original semaphores never had a flasher unit, but would just swing out and light up. The new flasher unit will try to swing them in and out and burn out something along the way . I sure it can be done with a bit of thought, contact me if ya want some ideas (luv the bug, first car I 'worked' on by myself)

More importantly check out this report, you site is reported as an 'attack' site. "malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent"

A link or you domain host is to blame at a guess

Siaynoq...I will go take a look in the morning. It has a new color coded wiring harness. I sure don't want to fry the thing. I had to buy new semafores. I didn't like just having a big slit on each side. The 54 is 12 volt. It has working blinkers up front and in the rear. But I want the semafores to work too. Nastalgia ya know...can see Bug Howto stuff here:

And thankyou

I have these diagrams. They are not specific enough. I had a diagram that showed close up view of blinker switch /control arm...but lost it. That is what I'm needing.
