I love getting and having tattoos. What do you think of tattoos?

do you believe they are gotte for self mutilation, for true meaning, for popularity or just for fun?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I was dead set against tattoos... Until they started to have a deep meaning to me.

Looking at the other comment that they are nice decoration or tasteless graffiti... for me, they are neither.

My tattoos are of a spritual nature and have deep meaning to me. Something that will NEVER change.

I will NEVER get a tattoo of something that has the SLIGHTEST chance of changing. My wife knows that I will NEVER get a tattoo with her name or representing her. I love her very much, but our relationship COULD change.

My children though... they will ALWAYS be my kids no matter what. So... my next tattoo will represent them.

I would only get a traditional tattoo. No tattoo guns for me.

I really don't like them on girls cause they are gorgeous and don't need anything else. As for me(a guy) I don't have any but im gonna be a grandpa in 2 weeks and gonna have my grandbabies face tattooed on my shoulder

I love tattoos. I have 5 of them myself and really would love a couple more. My first three where done when I was younger and not really a lot of thought went into them. My last two were thought out and planned very well. I agree about never putting someone's name on my body, but I did want to add something with my grandchildren but i have plenty of time for that!

I think tattoos are largely meaningless decoration, essentially a vanity thing. People get them because they believe they the sort of person who gets a tattoo, it's not about art so much as fitting in and looking good. As for 'meaningful' tattoos, I'm going to assume that if you would need to have your life philosophy or the things you love printed on you then you don't feel strongly enough about them and I don't want to hang out with you.

Are you going to forget that you love your girlfriend if you don't have their name written on your ass?

I don't like them because they cannot be changed. Unlike clothes, hats, makeup, even colored contact lenses, once you get a tattoo you are pretty much stuck with it. Otherwise they can be nice decoration, or tasteless graffiti, depending upon the tattoo. It's not fun if you are stuck for life, so it must be one of the other choices.
