I knit a hat and the brim is too loose, what did i do wrong?

Did you check your gauge before you knit your hat? If you used a yarn and needles that were too big you would end up with a loose brim. Do you knit loosely? This can also be the cause of your problem. If you are a loose knitter you may want to consider smaller needles.
