about How to Write a Speech
I have to write an entire speech by myself. Any tips on writing?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Know your audience. If you're writing on nuclear bombs and talking to 4th graders, you'll use different language than if you were presenting in front of biochemists.
Make it clear in the opening what your speech will be about.
Study it many times to eliminate the umm's.
Read it in the mirror, read it to everyone you can, even your kids if you have them. Reading it out loud helps cement it in your head and helps you catch any errors or funky grammar mistakes.
Remember to make eye contact with your audience, get them engaged.
Don't wait until the last minute to write it. The better you know the material, the easier it will be for you to give the speech.
Good luck!
