I have some blemishes and small blackhead and acne pitmarks from teenage acne. What solutions are available, within the London area?

I am looking for a solution that will make my facial complexion completely smooth and remove red blemishes from my face and even out the scarring from blackheads and acne from my forehead and nose within an affordable budget. To note, I am male.

Thanks!

My son has problem with acne and he's 28-years old. He tried going to see a Dermatologist and actually the medication they prescribed landed my son in the hospital. Took about 30 days for the medication to really be in his system and that's when his body rejected it. A good bag of I.V. cleansed him out along with Vicodin to kill off the pain. Is that a ridiculous story just for acne?

So what did he do? He went online to Amazon and bought a Mario Badescu kit. Here is the official website: http://www.mariobadescu.com/

Celebrities use this product and now we all know why, it works! My son has zero pimples, blackheads, etc. He had to work on it with the kit, and you really need a kit if you are having issues. It's less than $100 but the results are amazing. His face finally looks acne-free.

It's the only thing that has ever worked for him. Nothing else has. If you want to get rid of the problem, then you have to pay out some money. This product is guaranteed to work.

Good luck to you.

Thanks! Definitely gonna try this! I am still slightly cautious about microdermabrasion. I am worried of the risks and that it could turn my quite mild scarring into something worse.

Hi cjd, you have provided complete information regarding your problems of facial scarring and pits marks in your question itself. So, it is easy for me to try and find a solution for you.

Blemishes are slightly raised areas on the skin, whereas pit marks are depressed skin area of the face as a result of previous acne or other skin pathology. You also have scarring from blackheads which though is less concerning

Please see images of the different scar forms from blemish and acne, courtesy - http://www.acne.org/acne-scar-treatment.html

Treatments available in the London area - Harley Street Anti-Ageing Clinic is a place you can find a solution for your facial scarring problem at a reasonable budget. (Don’t bother about the 'anti-ageing'). The address is as below

Harley Street Anti-Ageing Clinic
2 Harley Street, London
W1G 9PA

Tel: 0208 909 1637

MDA - Medical microdermabrasion could be your treatment of choice.

Physician/surgeon - Stephen Schendel, M.D., D.D.S., Professor of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Stanford University Medical Center

The Medical microdermabrasion can take several weeks, scheduled with a gap of one to two months afterward. There are five to six treatments with a gap of 7 to 10 days for a normal skin whereas for other problems, it can take around 12 treatments.

Microdermabrasion can treat several skin conditions, like
1. Acne scars.
2. Dry, patchy and oily skin.
3. Wrinkles, lines and stretch marks.
4. Damage done to the skin by sun.
5. Hyperpigmentation.
6. Acne scars, blackheads and whiteheads.

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive non-painful procedure with minimal risk from chemicals or laser and a quick recovery period.

Regarding the price and budget you can check the link; however, it is written $85 for full procedure (but I do not think it is the real price, check yourself) at http://www.harleystreetantiageingclinic.co.uk/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/3991?opendocument&part=6

You can check by clicking the link here - http://www.harleystreetantiageingclinic.co.uk/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/3991?opendocument&part=2

NOTE: However, I would strongly recommend you to first consult your dermatologist/regular doctor and ask his/her opinion before undergoing any such treatment. Only your doctor knows the best option for you.

I would never recommend someone to go in for treatments until they've tried products that are available and "proven." While microdermabrasion isn't considered evasive it can cause scarring depending on the individual's skin and reaction to the treatment.

The least expensive route is to try products like Mario Badesque that can be bought world-wide and is a "proven" product which is highly regarded by celebrities who have to have clear skin for that extra close-up shot.

Treatments are never just one treatment, they'll have you go back again and again and again and the process will turn out to be far more expensive than initially considered. My son's acne was frequent and embarrassing. He found a way to not have to go to a clinic or doctor. I would suggest the same for this fellow.

Hi charli,

Thanks for the comment. To some points, i agree with you.

If you go through any invasive, non-invasive or minimally invasive procedure no matter how safe it is, no surgeon will give you assurance for guaranteed success or no-side-effect promise. They would not do a full-microdermabrasion without checking its effects or side effects on the patient's face. Regarding price, yes, it will depend on the number of sessions you take.

We cannot be skeptical for every doctor and every surgical process. What we can do is find a good surgeon, make ourselves aware about the surgery and its pros and cons and only then go further with it.

Hope you understand my point of view. I am an optimist.

I did an article on treatments for acne so I have a good understanding of the pros and cons of facial surgery. This guy needs to try "products" first before he goes into something this drastic. My son's medication was rejected by his body. He was in so much pain that he couldn't walk. I don't know how he got in the car. Now, without the help of a doctor using "proven" products and working at using them correctly, his face is acne free.

I wish I could go back in time and save him from all the false assurances the Dermatologist gave him stating "medicine is the best cure for acne." No, it wasn't. I introduced him to Mario Badescue to get rid of a pimple or two. He went a step further, bought a big kit, and wow I've never seen his face so smooth or clear.

That's what I'm saying to this guy. Try products FIRST before you go off and start taking treatments. The products however only work if he uses them everyday and uses them correctly. It's a painless solution to an embarrassing issue.

Hi @charlie,

I can understand that you do care for this guy seriously and honestly as you (your son) have gone through a not-very-good experience with such treatments and I am happy that now your son has zero pimples. Believe me I do find your story informative and helping and by no means I meant otherwise.

Wishes.

Thanks, ramag.

To hear my son call me in the middle of the night "Help me, please" and then run downstairs to find him almost unable to walk, it was scary. All because of stupid acne medication. I suppose my experience with it causes me to be more cautious with recommending treatments before products that might possibly work.

I believe you and I both have good intentions at heart. I hope this guy find what works for him, what really works for him. Acne is embarrassing as you get older, so I don't take it lightly. My skin, thank God, never had issues with it. Not even when I was younger. But I was lucky.

Good luck, CJD to whatever direction you try. I hope it's painless and effective.

Thanks @ramag,
I've given you a little tip, thanks for the answer - however it only accounts for one procedure and for results to appear, it does take around 6 microdermabrasion sessions to show significant results and thus will be slightly out of my maximum spending money on treatment.
I'm going to try charli's recommendation and see how that works out.
Thanks!

Hi @cjd,
I am happy that you selected charli's option which is painless yet effective. Regarding the tip, it is so kind of you but do I really deserve it? I don't thinks so. On a personal level, I do recommend certain things, but I always strongly advise that whatever one should opt for treating a medical condition, doctor's advice is a must and I mean it.

Wish you a good luck with your treatment and please do let us know about your progress. Thanks to charli too. His advise will help me for my own good in the future regarding any type of invasive procedure.
Bye for now,
