I have heard that satin pillowcases are very good for the hair and skin. Before I run out to buy some, does anyone have an opinion on this?

I had a polyester pillowcase once. Please don't go that route. It was very uncomfortable.
I have never used a satin pillowcase, but I have used a satin sheet. I prefer cotton. It was hard to get a good night's sleep on the satin because of the material texture. I had a hard time staying in a comfortable sleeping position because the sheet kept moving underneath me. My concern with a satin pillowcase is that your head may slide off the pillow.
A possible solution for you may be to try it out and return it if you have the same experience I did with the sheet or otherwise don't like it.

M$I'm afraid the slippery quality may give you similar (though less hilarious) experiences.
Couldn't help thinking of this oldie:

M$ROFLOL> I am sorry I laughed at your plight, but that was gosh darn funny! The reason it was funny to me personally, is because when my hubby asked me to buy sheets like that I told him that I envisioned us both sliding off the bed and landing in a mangled heap of arms, legs, and possibly screaming kids, dogs, cats and whoever else came running at the calamity! LOL
I did a search for the benefits of sleeping on satin and found several articles. A company called A Touch of Satin had a page with a list of the benefits that seemed to answer your question. It was very informative.
They had a large selection of solid colors and designs. I ordered a set from their black and white satin pillowcase page and I just love them. Kelly Ripa was right. I really have noticed a significant difference in my hair and skin.

I hope this helps answer your question!

M$When the (regular) sheets crease your skin, (and your skin remain creased all night) it can sometimes be the beginning of a deep wrinkle that may become permanent.
