I have an incoming 6th grader this Sept. with Williams Syndrome. Anyone have any experience with this and have some suggestions for me?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Williams syndrome is a genetic disorder resulting from the deletion of a small portion of a single chromosome, resulting in a well-defined combination of physical and mental characteristics. From a classroom perspective, students with Williams syndrome tend to have relatively strong concrete language skills versus abstract or conceptual vocabulary, with relatively poor visuospatial skills. Hypersensitive hearing is common. ADD/ADHD is frequently present as well, along with generalized anxiety and/or specific phobias. Physically, people with Williams syndrome have a distinctive facial appearance and posture, and progressive hearing loss may start in late childhood.
