I have a new visitor! Any ideas to make him more welcome?
I now have a Carolina Anole that visits me when I sit on my front porch and have my morning java.
He does his little push-ups to show me how macho he is and sometimes he'll puff out his throat.
He's a very happy little lizard. I want to show him that he's welcome on my banister.
Are there any treats I can leave for him?
Are there any ticks I can teach him?
What should I name him?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

On a more serious note you might want to get ahold of some mealworms or other small insects to feed him (you might even have some luck with small pieces of fruit such as banana or orange)...

M$He looks so cute in that picture hard to believe that inside he probably is thinking about how is ancient ancestors might have eaten you in one bite... I think that's the curiosity I see in his eyes.
He looks hungry and like he is sizing you up.
As far as names go..hmm, I like "Newman". Remember the character that got eaten in Jurassic Park, while trying to steal the dino embryos?

M$We have little guys like that, but they are brown.
Try the trick of putting a clay flowerpot, half buried in the ground, for shade. A shallow dish of water, some bugs (well...), some fruit and vegetable tidbits, fresh cut grass pieces. Maybe build a little "hut" of grass in a shady place for Lizzy. have fun!

M$He looks like a Rupert to me.
I like the clay pot condo idea!
Maybe I'll put it between the bushes he pops out of. I think I'll hold off on the moped until I can trust him at the wheel.
I say do all these things, wait for a couple more critters to join your lizard and spider friends, and then open your private zoo!

M$The best reptile trick I know actually requires two lizards. You tap the lizard on the nose and it will open its mouth. Then, you hold it up to your earlobe and it will chomp down. Do that on both ears and you'll have a lovely pair of lizard earrings. It doesn't hurt when they latch on (you can barely even feel it) and for some reason, they're content to dangle there for a while. I had a friend that wore a lizard for an entire afternoon. Eventually it jumped off, scurried down her shirt, and ran away no worse off for its time as an accessory.
Good luck!

M$When he comes to do the push-ups, try not to move and scare him. After some days, he will realize you are not going to hurt him.

M$Lizards love worms, and meaty bugs.

I did a little lizard digging (most links to what an anole eats is for a captured one) but this link give a better idea for a wild one.

I think they pretty much stick to insects that move, but maybe leaving some sweet fruit out will attract little flying critters for him..?
Now that I think about it... what is the name of the Geico gecko?
