I have a MAC Book Pro OSX 10.5.8, with 4GB of RAM a 2.2 Dual Core Intel Proc. I need help fine tuning it. Can you help me?

I don't have thing out of the ordinary installed on my MAC; however, it is dog slow. Does anyone have any tips on how to speed it up?

I will add more detail if asked.

Thanks

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would say reinstall the OS, back everything up first.

Really, I would wait until snow leopard comes out in about a month and not waste your time tinkering, unless you can't wait.

If you need to tinker check these helpful tips

If that doesn't work, get a solid drive (SSD)

A good review and what type of SSD to get is here

Good luck

Please provide more details. This should be an awesome machine. Is video slow? Startup slow? The doc and application launching slow? Browsing slow?

Without more details make an appointment at the genius bar of the nearest Apple store (you can make an appointment online). They are great and will be able to help you out and it won't cost anything to talk to them.
