I have a Krell piano with serial number 228520. Can anyone tell me what year this was made?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Use this website to know more about your piano:

The closest Serials to yours I could find were 224882 (1934) and 226226 (early in 1935). So I would guess 1936/37.
"The serial numbers start in 1900. Albert Krell resigned from the company in 1905, at which time the name became The Auto-Grand Piano company. The company was picked up by Starr Piano in 1927.
They continued to use the Krell name through 1949 (much more melodious than Auto-Grand in my opinion) until 1949, at which time the name was dropped."

I did the following search:
http://www.google.pt/search?hl=pt-PT&q=krell+piano+serial&btnG=Pesquisa+do+Google&meta=&aq=f&oq=
Thanks. Filling out the form on http://www.pianoexchange.com/howold.htm resulted in: "MAIL NOT SENT. SMTP ERROR".
I'm having trouble finding this information using google. I found answers for people who have a serial number and brand of piano. I was wondering where the source of this information was located and if it was searchable?
