It sounds like an external hemorrhoid. Hemorrhoids are similar to varicose veins; they are veins that have become swollen. The fact that it has grown in the last day indicates that it is not a polyp or tumor (they grow much more slowly). This increased swelling is probably the result of fresh blood filling the hemorrhoid, and the liquid blood in the hemorrhoid is the reason for the gel-like feeling.

Over-the-counter creams and tub baths can relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids. If these treatments are unsuccessful, hemorrhoids can be removed by various methods. Your friend's doctor will be able to provide a more definitive diagnosis and treatment plan after examining her.

Wow you two must be really close to share information like that. It sounds like she may have hemorrhoids which is a condition categorized by lumps in that area. I would recommend she do a little research on the topic to try and narrow it down. If it is painful and doesn't get better, she can see a doctor for further advice.

i suggested the dr. come monday since her dr. is off for the weekend. we are close, just like sisters. i did not see it, she described it to me because we are somewhat modest people. i just wanted to see what you thought it could be. i told her i thought it was either hemorrhoids or a polip. her female dr. said a few weeks ago when she was there that the scope showed she could have some polips. do you think one came out? i am concerned. her mother is dying of lung cancer and she is scared... thank you for your time. God bless you.

I would guess it's a hemmoroid, but she might want to see a doctor anyways to rule out anything worse.
