I have a 2008 Prius and have not been keeping up with all the recall news very well. Should I be concerned while driving around town?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Possibly. Ask your car's doctor or pharmacist. Motor Trend says this:

Recall ID # 09V388000 - VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
Recall Date: OCT 05, 2009
Component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL
Model Affected: PRIUS
Potential Units Affected: 4260319

a one in four and one-quarter MILLION shot nothing's wrong with your 2008 Prius

For safety, yes, I think you should be concerned. Have your Prius checked at your dealer or your nearest auto shop to be sure that your accelerator pedal won't get stuck when you drive. Try checking your brakes, transmission and electrical components for any malfunction. It is better to be safe than to be sorry. No matter what cost you incur for the check up, it is still cheaper than paying for a damage vehicle or worse for any injuries suffered by you and your passengers
