I don't understand why Prince wrote "Leno is the best even paul shafer knows" ?

Prince was implying that he, as a musician, has connections with Paul Shaffer. Within that relationship, Paul has perhaps confided in Prince that he thought Jay had the better show or was the better comedian. So Prince was either exposing that, or he just made it up, and it's pretty funny. BTW, the exact quote is: "Jay is the best. Even Paul Shafer knows" He painted it while he was performing on the Tonight Show that night
