The first question is asked by @pensivefox and second question asked by @karj (myself), a doubt regarding best answer selection and a doubt regarding votes respectively. There are many questions similar to this.

I don't know there is a movie in which somebody played the role roger rabbit.
It may be a famous movie there but I don't think it is famous in some countries. Definitely I did not consider the question as stupid.
Second question what is java-- all programmers know that but do everybody know. This is a good question as far as I am concerned.

We are currently in the process of figuring out how we want to handle this.
Here is the philosophy I have been using so far:
I try to only remove tips from questions that are similar to other questions that have recently been answers, silly, jokey or opinion questions that won't yield an interesting discussion.
Just because a question is easy to answer, does not mean the answerer has to provide only a simple answer. In fact, you as an answerer should see simple tipped questions with simple answers as an opportunity to snatch that M$ by providing a more detailed answer. The tip is not there to reward the first answer or the simplest, it is there to reward the BEST answer.
If you feel there are questions that should be de-tipped or have been de-tipped unfairly, do not hesitate to contact me directly.

M$With that being said, in six days, out of hundreds of questions I've removed less then 10 tips in that time.
You still get points for answering these questions, but if we spot it in time, your most likely not going to see a crisp dollar bill attached to it. Again, there is no science, its at the discretion of the mods.
Remember this is only a 10 day test. Mahalo funded M$1 questions could be removed from the system within four days if we find there are too many problems or that it's not helping us get great answers so... That's certainly something to keep in mind. If we do keep them I promise as mods we'll try our best to be more consistent with our tip removals.

Hey Karj, we don't have this information in an FAQ section because we are still testing the system, remember we are only doing this for 10 days.
If people have individual questions about the intricacies of Mahalo Answers they are always free to ask (It's a Q&A service afterall) But at the rate that we de-fund I don't think it's necessary to address each case.
It should also be said that having your question de-funded can be completely avoided by adding your own tip :)

If you point out the new features in a special block in FAQ or help section it will be easy to find.
For my first point let me tell you an example
There are two person asking the same simple question. The moderator notices one question and strips its value but misses the other question.
The other person gloats to the first person 'see my question is valued' but not yours. The first person will not understand the reason and will get dejected and leading to misusing the system.
Sometime these situation cannot be prevented but I asked this question because different member have different thoughts. I want them to share it.
Tips on questions should not be seen as rewards for asking a good question. At the same time, a question being de-tipped should not be seen as a punishment. They are only incentive for users to give the best possible answers. If they are effective at increasing the quality of answers they will stay, if not then we will get rid of them or lower them again.
Users should not consider a tip that we may or may not add to their question when asking a question. They should only consider whether or not they want an answer or to start a discussion.
The only scale we have for measuring good questions is the "is interesting" vote feature.

If I was to use the question “what is Purim?” again as an example… A person emailed in the question and two people replied to the question at basically the same time drawing from two separate sources. This validates the accuracy of the information for the person asking.
The question “Who framed Rodger Rabbit?” was asked it could be for any reason not just being silly. The person asking might actually want to know who framed Rodger Rabbit… the answer is of course the Judge. However he person might not know that. They could no have the desire and or time to do an internet search for the information but still want an answer. Why then should the person doing the search not be tipped? Is it because a person arbitrarily decided that it was not worthy as a question and the person searching was not worthy to be tipped? Hmm. That is about all I have to say on that.

@karj lol I forgot about the nasa art. It was a really good picture and your welcome. I think I am an odd duck here I tend to email sources and call them directly. The bad thing about that is it can take a few days for replies via e-mail and most celebrities tend to have unlisted numbers then you end up having to deal with their agents(I rather pull teeth without Novocaine.) or the over zealous administrative assistants.( Let's call them what they are stormtroopers with a pda.) ... The up side is my source is about iron clad as can be.

They are just trying to protect the system from people asking either two easy a question and inflating payouts or questions that could have been answered by doing a search on Mahalo.

For your first question, The answer is right in my question. What is purim or what is crossloop ---Your Quote 'I mean it doesn't even take a complete goggle search to find the answer'-- the tip is not removed from these question, why remove it from that question -- who framed roger rabbit. If that is a stupid question then several question can be considered stupid.
For your second question? why I considered it a good question. The reason is in your answer. You have to answer all three not one. All programmers know it is a programming language but do everyone of them know there is a beverage or island called java. Tell me??

Regarding the google search the person could have made for the "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" question. It is an invalid point because this question was made via twitter, which means they may not had a browser with them at that point. Therefore, when it may be trivial for somebody in front of a browser to google search this, it may be difficult, or impossible, for somebody that is out-and-about. The guidelines even give us a tip regarding twitter-asked questions:
"Remember, people may be asking from a mobile device. If the information seems easy to find, it may not be when you're out and about."
See in your comment you just made my point. It's a question What is java? So the answer is any of the 3 not all 3. So if 3 differen't people give one portion of the answer Each should get best answer. Not the person that gives all 3. It's a poorly worded questions. So they remove the tip.
Who framed Roger Rabbit? Was more likely removed simply because It was somebody trying to be silly. So silly or to easy questions don't deserve a tip.
And I doubt you'll ever be given a list of reasons. I wouldn't because then I'll be held to that list of reasons. I'd simply just say I can pull my tip for an reason I deem necessary.
Exactly. And yeah, you could answer a question the way Karj said, whatever interpretation you want to consider, but how do you know that's the way the asker wants you to answer it. They're going to be less less likely to answer it, if readers don't know the specific intention of a question. Are you curious to know how someone's going to interpret a question with multiple meanings? Interesting. Well, if the question is so dynamically dignified, then why don't you fund it with your own tip money?

But we are getting out of topic, if you consider those question not needing the tip, Why other 'what is' question should have tip. They must be also be poorly worded questions.

For that i will point out 'who is this' or 'where can i find this actress photo' are also simple question you google it , you will get it. why should there be a tip for it.

Many twitter questions are some plain simple question. Come on,have not you seen some of them at least with M$1 not removed. Why remove it from concerned questions only?? It is like partiality showing.
On a different note, I think the moderators should look at a question and arbitrarily judge how much a Mahalo funded ??? is worth and just slap .50, .75, 25 cents, or whatever. If it's a really easy question to answer, then it should be answered based on its worth.

I think it is enough, one gets points for all the above questions that I have given. I pointed out the questions where tips are removed because i thought it has equal value to questions we asked and the 'what is' question.

M$2. You're forgetting - these questions were asked by email and Twitter, and we might have reason to assume that the person asking the questions is on a mobile phone, thus having no access to Google or Wikipedia.
3. These questions are legitimate, just as legitimate as any other question (like, for example, this one.) Plus, I could not understand what you are talking about.

The Roger Rabbit one is obvious spam, and the Java one is just too simple. (As Mahalo said, if something is uber simple they might take the tip down.)

People who are actually asking legitimate questions get their questions tipped. (The definition of "legitimate" changes if one is using Twitter, as that may mean you're on a cellphone with no access to Google.)
Someone just posting "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" is taken by many to be spam (seriously, if someone really wanted to know, they'd make it more specific.)
"What is Java?" needs more clarification - in which context?
Mahalo takes tips off questions that they consider too simple, not all questions - the ones you said are perfectly legitimate discussions! (The definition of "too simple," as I said, changes when one has no Google.)

Anybody reports a question as invalid for M$ 'I don't know whether it is double checked by moderator'.Please clarify.
I read your comment. Your points makes me understand few things. I just want to know if user click on the report link-- and reports it is not a valuable question what happens. Another question why can't questions be pre-checked before being listed in question list.
