I don't get the term "reverse racism." Isn't reverse racism coveting a race above yours?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

"Reverse racism" is when you discriminate against one race because you're trying so hard not to discriminate against another. For example, if an employer doesn't consider a white candidate for a job because they feel they need to hire a minority even though the white candidate may be more qualified.

Racism is discrimination based on race, regardless of any perceived social ranking. "Reverse racism" would then be any action aimed at undoing the effects of previous racism. However, in this case it is being used in a negative sense, as though the previous racism was a positive thing and attempts to "reverse" it are bad. In short, it's a term invented for political purposes and has as much real meaning as most other political buzzwords.
