I currently use a desk top computer, if I also had an iPad, what would it be more useful for, business or pleasure?

There has been so much publicity about the iPad, I am wondering if I got one, what it would be more useful for, business or fun, would it do many of the things I can do with the desk top ? Would it be better to just get a lap top as an alternative?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Well if you had a desktop computer and you also had an iPad, I think you should practice using it for business, too. It’s obviously handy compared to desktop computer. If you get to master it then you can do business using the iPad when you are on the go and at the same time, you have the super cool entertainment. And after knowing that you can have thousands of super cool apps and many cool accessories for your iPad then that have made me a bit convinced about getting an ipad. But if you don’t have the iPad yet and you want a device that functions as good as your desktop then it’d be a better choice to go for the laptop. It offers multi-tasking capabilities, more features for now and it’s a complete package already.

I think you could use the iPad for both business and pleasure. There are a seemingly endless number of apps for the iPad that can be used for business purposes as well as for entertainment. I suppose the question you have to ask yourself is, what do you want out of an iPad? Do you want it for business or for entertainment? If you need a second device for business, I would prefer a laptop over an iPad, to take while traveling if you need to do business on the road. If you want something just for entertainment purposes, the iPad, being smaller might be more ideal. For me, I wouldn't get an iPad. I don't need to spend a lot of money on something that I probably wouldn't use. I can get everything I need on my desktop at home.

My son got me an iPad originally because I am a writer and he thought it would help me with certain things that my desktop and laptop couldn’t handle. If I was going somewhere away from the house, I would lug around my laptop, which for me was heavy. The iPad is much lighter. That has worked great. However, as far as my work, it has not met my expectations. At the present time, you can’t multi-task on the iPad and believe me, I need that. I am always doing at least three different things at once. I can’t do that on the iPad…..yet. Hopefully, that will be much better in November when the new update is given to us.

So right now, I mainly use my iPad for games and recreation. I do hope to use it more after November when I can multi-task on it. So if you multi-task like I do, you might do better with a laptop. However, it might be okay after the new update in November. :-)
