I changed my profile pic - and you should too! Tell us something about yourself :-)
My first pic update includes me embraced by the love of my life - my truly better half. Two years as of this October - huzzah! Here we are celebrating her birthday in Riverside, after walking back from a lovely hole-in-the-wall pancake house. The breakfast was delicious, the city was a blast, and it was a beautiful day to be happy :-)
I look forward to sharing more pics with everyone - and if you decide to change your profile picture today, answer this thread letting us know, and give us the backstory on your new avatar!
...oh yeah, and the picture doesn't have to include *you*, if you'd rather lay low ;-) Feel free to include anything that represents you in some way - a sailboat, sewing machine, picture of a place you visited, the hospital's logo for where you work - anything that you'd like to share with us!

All the land in the picture (background) is where I was raised as a child. We moved into that house in the far distance when I was 4 years old. Lived in a mobile home beside my grandmother's house before. We had a tobacco farm for over 15 years. It was a lot of blood, sweat and tears. No job since has been harder... so I am thankful that I no longer have to raise tobacco. I am most thankful for my son, he is such a little sweetie.

M$I like to go grocery shopping when it rains and I really do not know why. Maybe its the comfort seeking relief from the blah-dom of the weather or maybe it is that the grocery store has soooo few people in it during rainy afternoons but I just got back from there and it went great :) Now I feel better with a few things I might have needed and a few other comfort items as well. I can relax now that my responsibilities for the day have been completed and I have fresh milk.
I love animals and have 2 cats, a Shih-Tzu, and a plethora of woodland wildlife out back that I feed daily and bring me lots and lots of happiness and real contentment. The Red Squirrels are my favorites of the backyard cheek stuffers as they are so tiny but dare I say ferocious when other animals are trying to grab a bite to eat when they are.. Red Squirrels take no BS when it comes to food and they like to eat alone. It is really hilarious to watch them chase away e v e r y o n e else when they are hungry... even the Blue Jays, the squackity yackity bullies of the forest, respect the Red Squirrel.
I work a lot from home and I am bored of it, perhaps it is time for a change. I have been looking around for a new opportunity or new idea to explore and find the ends of. Maybe I'll write a book but wait.. that still does not get me out of the house..oh well I'll still think on it for a while but in the mean time I love to be here exploring Mahalo Answers and the internet while I think about what sort of awesomeness I will cook for dinner... any suggestions? .. I just got back from the grocery store.
What kind of plant is this? My dog just absolutely loves to pee on it.

M$I thought those looked like grape leaves but over the past year I have never seen grapes there so I was not sure if that actually was a grape plant? tree? vine.. ah yes vine.
I love to have the privilege to volunteer here in my city and get to help out in a mission here about 20 hours a week but even that although rewarding in so many ways has its limits for the "new and interesting" factor. I see a lot of joy and a lot of pain there.
Mad props Budda, and mad respect. Take a lesson y'all, get out and volunteer, Budda style!
I see several plants in the pic, but the most prominent is a concord grape. Hope that's the one you meant to show.
If you want to get out of the house (and don't really need to earn money) try volunteering. The "compensation" is so much more rewarding than money. If people aren't your thing - work for animals.
budda this answer made me smile - what an engaging way to hook us into details about your life! I hope you find something that gets you pumped (and out of the house a little more ;), but if it means anything I am infinitely jealous of your woodland creature entourage.
Just kidding, I'll change it back in a few days, I promise!
If you want to know who I am, please visit my profile page, and read my 'bio' there. That's what it's there for, isn't it?

Not everyone is as handsome as you and it may be a little more difficult for them (I said them) to put up a personal photo. Unlike myself...
This is me at work...

M$So in the spirit of Halloween, I'm putting up me from last year. I'm usually pretty preppy and sporty, so I decided to go gothic and did a dark angel.......................not a single person could believe it and the fact that I had pulled it off so well! I was very impressed with myself!....This year? The female version of Freddy Krueger---except I'm only going to burn up half of my face hehe

M$Cool! I went to elementary school with her, and I think we played softball together too :)
Well, I lived in Ann Arbor for a while for school, now in K-zoo, and will soon be moving back to Ltown for the time being :) You?
Love the pic! A far cry from the smiling sweetheart in the middle of the other picture :-) Good job on picking a season-appropriate picture, as well!
yes it is!! That's my lil sis
Wow! What a small world! Still in the L-town area?
That girl on the left looks REALLY familiar. By chance is her name Bridget?
I changed my avatar as well. This picture was taken around three years ago. As you can probably see, I had long hair which is long gone by now :). I am sitting next to my best friend in the world, Joe, in his then-newly purchased house. The picture was taken before Joe and I became best friends, and really before we knew each other all that well. But that night, and the many more to come, would bring us incredibly close.

M$Oh. Found this one. Warming up in a practice room. VERRRY long time ago!
Aw what a cute pic! I was hoping to get one of you rocking out on the trombone, but this one is pretty good, too ;-)
Strangely enough, I don't have a single picture of me playing the trombone! I guess this will have to do :)
I enjoy sketching and painting; floral arranging, and crafting. I've painted art deco chairs (children & adult) and antique irons, saws, and mirrors. A couple of years ago I went into the woods with family and gather long needle pine branches and pine cones and created my own pine swag and door hanging for my front porch. I love the smell of the fresh pine.
Before my health issues I enjoyed cooking. I love trying new recipes, creating my own recipes and preparing huge meals for family & friends.
I love spending time with my family and I deeply miss my grandmama.

M$@bitbit, I gotta say, you sound pretty much, downright awesome. Is it wrong that I want to tear some pipes apart with ya? Bust out the Dremel and make something craft-tastic? I swear, if a job existed where we could just smell pine trees all day.... (I have *seriously* considered becoming a park ranger at least 9 times ... okay, I guess it wasn't that serious then). Your family is lucky to have such a capable and engaging person within the mix, and I live in a world where I'd like to think your grandmama feels every ounce of love and longing you have to offer, only to return it ten-fold in your direction.

M$Changing a Mahalo Avatar is at least as irritating as changing a Facebook photo. Which reminds me of how annoying it is when people on Facebook use photos of their kids or pets or something instead of themselves. But back to Mahalo, it's hard enough to remember who everyone is (in terms of their answer types, general knowledge, and political or religious stances) without having the Avatar change. I say find a good one and stick to it!

M$That is me, finally back to my original hair color after about 90 million colors from blond to blue and my elder and handsome son I call Torsten the golden. he just turned 2 on October second. The non-photoed son is Rafe who is 8 months old. I'm happily married to a viking fellow named Dustin.
I go insane from home.. I mean work. I don't like being a housewife, though I do like writing. It's not the work that drives me nuts. I live in a small and boring town in Alaska. I have some malamutes.. and a cat who I haven't seen in two weeks. Oh and some fish that keep dying.. ZOMBIE FISH....
I like zombies and cake.
The non photographed Rafe tippin his hat to you...then my boys all in their little viking hats...

M$Several years ago I was working for a magazine and we were going to do an editorial piece of local dogs in local jeweler's pieces--diamonds, emeralds, you name it, these dogs were going to be wearing it.
One of the dogs didn't show up (eh, blame the owner right?) so I got to run home and pick up my then-6-month-old french bulldog, Shelby, to do some test shots. The jewelry itself in the shot is obviously costume jewelry, but she looks like quite the star nonetheless, don't ya think?
I work a very hectic job in corporate retail, teach a class at the local university, write for several sites weekly--all while pregnant--and this picture always makes me slow down and smile.

M$I am one of the unluckiest people alive. I am proud of it because I am certain 60-70% of people, were they to live my life would have killed themselves. I have no family to speak of. Specifically, I was betrayed by the closest, alienated from the rest of them by the closest, and the ones I could count on died.
I am 33. Male. Texan. Tattooist of 10 years. Critic of life. Agent of Hate. Atheist. Former Christian. I'm going to die by 45, and known since 18. Spinal Tumor. I refuse to have it removed because in doing so, I loose the ability for p*****g standing up, walking, and sex. I survived the greatest betrayal I could ever have had happen to me: my father/hero stole my fiancé. And as I write this, I am feeling unwilling to go on with my story... I just realized it's 5am. Might add more later, but for now... sleepy
I will leave a link if you want to know more.

You look great Cosmo, and your son could be the next Batman! :-).
Now, I can imagine the face behind the very helpful and good friend. . I am happy to see you and your cute son, he is such a blessing and lucky too for having a very supportive and caring mom!
Awww it's my beautiful Cosmo! (and the awesome son I hear so much about! Wad'up P?) Your new picture makes me smile ear-to-ear. Hearing about your past, seeing the land where you grew up, sharing in a special Halloween with your son, and seeing your face just makes me happy. After sharing so many experiences with you (Cosmo is MAD talented at helping me keep the Guru Team together!) it brings me joy to be invited into a little more of your life. Thanks for sharing!
